The Daily Mail has quoted an unnamed friend of heartbroken Minogue, who broke up with long-term boyfriend Olivier Martinez last week, saying the singer was keen to adopt.

"She has been contacting adoption agencies in Australia and in the UK as well, regardless of her not having a partner,'' the friend said.

"In the last few days she has even been talking to Madonna, asking her advice on adopting a child from abroad. They were talking about Malawi and the other African countries.''

Friends claim Minogue has been gorging on chocolate and attending extra yoga classes to help get over her split from Martinez.

The singer looked radiant when she attended the launch of her perfume at Harrods yesterday.

She told reporters that Martinez, 41, had been a faithful partner.

"None of the rumours about Olivier cheating are true. I don't believe any of it,'' she said.

"Olivier and I still care about each other and there's still a lot of love between us. I still speak to Olivier and you never know what will happen in the future.''

Madonna recently encouraged everyone to come and adopt in Malawi a country of over one million orphans who live in extreme poverty with most families child headed due to the devastaion of HIV/AIDS.
