"Musical innovator Björk releases her next studio album ‘Volta’ on May 7th 2007.
‘Volta’ is Björk's sixth studio album and follows the release of ‘Medúlla’ in 2004.
Featuring ten new and original tracks, ‘Volta’ is written and produced by Björk, with three tracks co-produced with Timbaland and Mark Bell.
In the role of producer Björk has brought in various other musicians to work on her songs and ‘Volta’ features some of her most interesting collaborations so far with Antony Hegarty (Antony And The Johnsons) singing on two tracks, and Timbaland (Jay-Z, Missy Elliot etc) working with Björk on beats that she created for three further songs.
Other artists that feature on ‘Volta’ include electronic pioneer Mark Bell of LFO and two unique drummers – Chris Corsano (the improvisational drummer who has worked with Sonic Youth amongst others) and Brian Chippendale from Lightening Bolt.
Björk also brought in two acclaimed African artists for ‘Volta’ - Toumani Diabate, the Malian kora player and Konono No1 the experimental band from The Congo who won a BBC World Music Award in 2006. She has also put together her own 10 piece female brass section of Icelandic musicians who play on three further tracks. Meanwhile Chinese pipa expert Min Xiao-Fen plays on one song."

AUSTRALIAN pop princess Kylie Minogue made an unlikely dinner companion for Gordon Brown recently as Britain's Prime Minister-in-waiting launched a bid to shed his dour image.
Minogue became enveloped in Mr Brown's charm offensive when she attended a dinner hosted by her friend and writer Kathy Lette at leading London restaurant Rules last month.
Lette, who is a good friend of Brown's wife, Sarah, said the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Treasurer) was “very sociable and charming” throughout the soiree.
“Gordon and Kylie got on really well,” Lette told UK newspaper The Evening Standard.
“They spent quite a bit of time talking to each other over drinks.
“He is so much more relaxed in private ... people who hadn't met him before were really knocked out.”
Lette said the dinner was partly an attempt to introduce Mr Brown to a wider circle of friends.
British actor Alan Rickman, who played baddie Hans Gruber in the 1988 action movie Die Hard, was also a guest at the dinner which, according to the paper, was just one of a series involving the Browns and celebrities.
Others to have reportedly dined in the couple's company include singer Dionne Warwick and England soccer manager Steve McClaren.
At the age of 56, Mr Brown appears to be remodelling his image, which is often described as dour, brooding and serious.
He is expected to succeed Tony Blair when he resigns as Prime Minister in the middle of this year.

Another glamorous singer joins Madonna in having a clothing line with H&M. Australian pop star Kylie Minogue will be the face of H&M's new beachwear line. The "H&M loves Kylie" will hit stores in mid-May and will be a line of 15 styles with bohemian prints and shiny metallic. The line will also do good as well as look good: ten percent of all proceeds from the beachwear line will be donated to international charity WaterAid. Kylie also has a lingerie line, Love, Kylie and has done work for Agent Provocateur.
(NEW YORK) When H&M chose Australian glam as the look for its new line of beachwear, the go-to girl was obvious: the Swedish cheap-chic giant has tapped Kylie Minogue as the muse and face of its upcoming beachwear campaign. "When we think Australia and glamour we think Kylie, who is such a fashionable person," said H&M's head of design Margareta van den Bosch (LIVE IT TO AS!!!!) in a statement.
"It has been a great experience working with H&M to create this summer line. To me it is all about summer indulgence, effortless chic and lots of fun!" Minogue added. The "H&M loves Kylie" will hit stores in mid-May and contain 15 styles featuring bright, bohemian prints and lots of shiny metallic. 10 percent of all proceeds from the beachwear line will be donated to international charity WaterAid, which is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation, and hygiene education in poverty-stricken regions.
